SYNOPSIS
In the history of modern art in China, the birth and development of 798 Art centre in Beijing must be an important historical stage. The making of the documentary “798”started from October 2002, which was before the entry of artists and artistic space into the “798”factory, and ended at February 2005. It recorded the events and changes of “798” art centre in 4 years, and the transformation of a deserted factory to a prosperous art centre, as well as the reproduction of New York “SOHO”, the theme of which was the conflict and striving between the artists and the factory, and whether the art centre should be remained or not. The documentary selected several artistic space and artists’ stories as its narrative approach.
Record of Awards:
2001 “the Village Camerist and His Son” got the ATM award in the third Globe Art College Video competition in the U.S. California Art College.
2002”the New Song to the Long River” got the annually Best Director award in the Chinese independent Video Competition.
