Synopsis:
This film is about the denizens and goings on of "Shu Cun" in Beijing. "Shu Cun" (the name means Tree Village) is an ordinary rural village on the outskirts of Beijing, it began to be famous in the late 90s because innumerable youngsters from other provinces congregated there, all were lovers of rock music and the rock and roll lifestyle. The people who appear in this film are Wu Tun, lead singer of the band Tongue, his good friend Lao Liu and members of rock bands. Here are some scattered fragments from their lives between 2001 and 2002.

Director’s Bio:
Mao Ran,Born on 28th July 1970 in Liu Pan Shui County, Gui Zhou Province, South of China
– 4 years after my parents had settled down there to participate in the 3 Front
iers (defense, industry and agriculture) Construction Campaign launched by the government.
Moved to Zou County, Shang Dong Province, China, in 1974 with parents ( Mencius’ former residence and graveyard was 30-min/bicycle drive away from my home there )
1977 – 1989 was my primary and secondary education years at the local school.

1989 – 1991 was my university years at the Exhibition Advertisement Specialty, China Science and Technology Management College in Beijing, totally on my own fees – knowing I was neither qualified for most of the formal universities that provided with education free of fees then, nor capable of living skills and methods, my parents put all their savings into payments for my fees throughout.

1991 – now has seen my living on exhibition and interior decoration in Beijing, as a nobody contractor, lost and gained, till today.
